Is Islam an Ethnic or Universal Religion?

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ considered the final prophet of Islam, also emphasized the universal nature of the religion. He said: "O people, know that God is One and has no partner. He is the Only Lord, and all of you belong to Him. Verily, the most honorable of you in the sight of God is the one who is most righteous among you." This emphasis on the importance of individual righteousness and the equal worth of all people, regardless of their race or ethnicity, is a fundamental aspect of Islam.
