What is Islam?

Islam is the Arabic word for peace and submission to the will of God. It is a monotheistic religion that is followed by about 1.8 billion people worldwide. Muslims believe in one God, and in the Prophet Muhammad as ALLAH's messenger.

Muslims believe that Muhammad was the last and greatest prophet in a long line of prophets that have been sent by God to guide mankind. Muslims pray five times a day, facing Mecca.

They fast from dawn to dusk during the holy month of Ramadan, during which they must not eat, drink, or smoke anything, or engage in any sexual activity. Muslims also perform daily tasks such as washing themselves before prayers and giving charity.
